The principal aims of the Society are to make our town a pleasant and interesting place in which to live and work, to make it attractive to visitors and to make it a place of which we can be justly proud.
Burton upon Trent has an historic heritage and the Burton Civic Society plays an active part in promoting and celebrating awareness of the historic heritage of our town and helping to shape its future.

Burton Grammar School:
"While the debate on the merits of Grammar Schools continues, some forty years after their abolition, I think myself very privileged to have had the benefit of such a school before it was too late."
"As an ex-pupil of Burton Grammar School myself from 1968-1973, I now feel encouraged to put together this historical record of the school and to try to recapture some of the history, ethos and proud tradition that lay behind it."
Burton Local News:
Burton's biggest independent publication is available online!
Each monthly issue features several competitions, local news articles and has at the core of its existence, and ethos, the support and promotion of Local Business, with it being a pioneer of a 'Keep Trade Local' campaign.
The Magic Attic is a local history archive inside Sharpe's Heritage Centre, it was started in 1987 by local historians who were interested in preserving information about the disappearing local History and Heritage of this important industrial area and it's surroundings.
In addition to their main activity of maintaining the collection, they often mount exhibitions of photographs, maps and local memorabilia.
